The Caroni Collection

House of Rum’s unique collection of three classic Caroni rums, bottled in January 2025, make them at the time of writing the oldest collection of Caroni bottling’s of the 1997 at 28 years, 1998 at 27 years and 1999 at 26 years of age.

We also believe that a single release of three Caroni rums in a collection of three consecutive years hasn’t been seen before making this collection the most rare and unique available.

The bottles will be released as a collection of three, each with matching bottle numbers. Again, we believe this is a once in a lifetime, unique opportunity for investors and collectors to add to their rum collections.

Caroni HTR (Heavy Type Rum) is crafted from molasses using a single distillation column still. It earns its “Heavy” designation due to the high levels of congeners—compounds such as esters, aldehydes, and lower alcohols, which are fermentation byproducts other than ethyl alcohol. In contrast, rums with lower congener content are classified as “light.”

The combination of high impurity levels and extended maturation in a tropical climate warehouse results in Rare Caroni Heavy Rums that are robust, full-bodied, and exceptionally complex in aroma, flavour, and texture.

The role of wood in the maturation process is crucial, but Caroni opted against using new wood barrels. This decision yields distinctive and unconventional flavours that set Caroni Rum apart from any other. Expect bold and unique notes such as diesel, tar, burnt rubber, and salty olive brine.

At the same time, you’ll discover a spectrum of sweeter flavours and aromas, including dark chocolate, oaky vanilla, caramelised sugar, and spicy undertones of liquorice, aniseed, and coffee, complemented by subtle herbal nuances like menthol and tobacco.

Bottled at cask strength, each Rare Caroni Rum offers a one-of-a-kind experience, with its own unique character and identity.
